To prevent is to be a Chingón Mexican

This time it's not about some funny note, about me or hats. Today is the time to bring out the Mexican Chingón that we have inside and to give importance to the issue of the coronavirus in Mexico.

Today is the time to raise awareness about the importance of taking care of our health and that of everyone. This is our country right now:

As we all know, Mexico and the world are waging a tough battle against the coronavirus pandemic. Defeating him is an extremely complex task.

That is why it is time to be responsible, to follow all the recommendations and to demonstrate, once again, that we Mexicans can do everything together.

Here are some tips and recommendations:

In the face of the public health emergency, one of the measures adopted is to stay at home as an essential measure to protect the health of the population from the coronavirus.

This is a practice that during other pandemics has proven effective in slowing the spread of the virus.

You can leave home only for the essentials:

  • Buy food

  • Buy medicines

  • Go to the doctor

  • Go to work if you can't work from home.

And if you have to go out, it is very important to keep a distance of 1 meter with anyone, take the least time possible, and wash your hands well when you return home.

Respiratory viruses, such as coronavirus disease, are spread when mucus or droplets containing the virus enter the body through the eyes, nose, or throat. Most often this happens through the hands.

During a global pandemic, one of the cheapest, simplest, and most important ways to prevent the spread of a virus is to wash your hands frequently with soap and water. Especially after direct contact with sick people or their environment.

This is everything you need to know to wash your hands properly:

  • Wet your hands with running water;

  • Apply enough soap to cover wet hands;

  • Rub all over the surface of the hands (the back, the space between the fingers and under the nails) for at least 20 seconds;

  • Wash well under running water, and

  • Dry your hands with a clean cloth or single-use towel.

Another recommendation is to cover your mouth and nose with tissues when sneezing or coughing, and throw them away immediately.

If you do not have a handkerchief, always cover yourself with your elbow flexed and avoid using your hand.

If you cough or sneeze into your hand, wash immediately avoiding touching any surface.

Covering the mouth and nose during coughing or sneezing prevents the spread of germs and viruses.

Another of the recommended measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, in addition to washing your hands constantly, is to use antibacterial gel, since it is a product that is used to stop the spread of germs thanks to the amount of alcohol it has.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), disinfection with alcohol-based products is the only known means to quickly and effectively deactivate a wide variety of potentially harmful microorganisms present on the hands.

Contamination of surfaces and objects is known to be one of the most common routes of infection transmission. And the coronavirus is one of them.

Aerosol disinfectants are appropriate in remote locations or with limited resources, as they are faster, more convenient, and immediately accessible.

To disinfect a home if someone is sick, it is recommended: cleaning and disinfecting surfaces and objects that are touched frequently, such as tables, countertops, light switches, doorknobs, and cabinet handles.

Stay informed about the latest news regarding the COVID-19 coronavirus. Follow the advice of relevant national and local health authorities on how to protect yourself and others from COVID-19.

The federal and local government have the most up-to-date information about whether the COVID-19 coronavirus is spreading in your area. They are the most indicated interlocutors to give advice on the measures that the population of your area should adopt to protect themselves.

Whenever you have a cough, fever, runny nose, and shortness of breath, it is important to seek medical attention immediately, as these symptoms may be due to a respiratory infection or another serious condition.

Respiratory symptoms with fever can have a variety of causes, and depending on your travel history and personal circumstances, CoVid-19 could be one of them.

In addition to hygiene, medical experts assure that social distancing is one of the recommended measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

Social distancing translates into simple but high-impact actions. For example:

Being at least one meter away from other people, especially if they sneeze, cough or have a fever;

Do not shake hands when greeting or kiss the cheek, as recommended by the WHO.

Nor is it suggested to greet with the elbow, as this could have particles of sneezes that people cover precisely with their arm.

Finally, if you have a fever, cough, and shortness of breath, DO NOT self-medicate, quickly seek medical advice, as it could be due to a respiratory infection or other serious condition.

Call ahead and inform your doctor of any recent trips you have taken or any contact you have had with travelers.

Leaving the decision about which medications to take to health professionals will also help prevent the spread of viruses and other infections.
